2019 has been an incredible year for TIPWG, providing the perfect foundations for us to build upon as we enter a new decade of forestry.
The TIPWG Newsletter has received wonderful feedback and will continue adding value into the new year. Please keep us informed of any pesticide-related news by emailing us: email@example.com
New Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) will be created in 2020, the first of which will be an SOP promoting best practice for bee protection and conservation. Protecting South Africa’s ailing bee population is a commitment that TIPWG has made in the wake of the two-mass bee die-offs as a result of poor pesticide practices. It’s time we reversed this trend. The remaining four SOPs are up for suggestion. If there is an SOP that will add value to your team, we would love to know.
The first issue of TIP-Mag, our digital publication, will be launched in the new year. We are filled with excitement and trepidation. The magazine is a huge but necessary undertaking to elevate the way in which we disseminate pesticide-related research.
The magazine will provide a platform for essential research that currently doesn’t fit the conventional parameters set out in scientific journals, ensuring important pest-related studies are not lost to the sector. TIP-Mag will also help non-scientists access the science, by presenting it in a user-friendly format that places science in a forestry and lay-person context.
TIP-Mag, very much a ‘work in progress’, will continue to evolve with every new issue. This is why we are counting on your support and input.
